A valiant train employee who stepped in to save passengers during a mass stabbing incident on a high-speed train has suffered critical wounds, authorities stated on Sunday.

Details of the Terrifying Event

CCTV footage allegedly depicts the staff member attempting to stop the attacker as the train journeyed between Peterborough and another station in Cambridgeshire. Bystanders recounted a frightening 14-minute period after the train left Peterborough, with bloodied passengers running through carriages.

The individual, a 32-year-old British national from Peterborough, remains in custody for questioning. Authorities declared a major event on the 6:25 pm service from Peterborough to King's Cross in downtown London.

The event on the weekend led to 11 people being treated in medical facilities after the train made an unscheduled stop at platform 2 in Huntingdon. Several individuals have since been released from medical care.

A bystander filmed the suspect brandishing a big knife and being subdued with a Taser as he faced police on the platform. He was allegedly heard shouting, "End my life, end my life."

“This was a horrific attack that has had a wide impact. Our sympathies go out to the injured and their loved ones – particularly the courageous member of rail staff whose relatives are being supported by trained personnel,” said a high-ranking police official.

The train driver who halted the train at Huntingdon was described as being “deeply affected” but “well”, and has been praised by union officials for doing “precisely what was needed”.

“He did not halt the service in the middle of two stops where it’s clearly challenging for the emergency services to reach, but he continued going until he got to Huntingdon, where the response was almost already there,” explained a association representative.

Police stated they got the first distress calls at 7:39 pm, and the service was compelled to make an unplanned stop in Huntingdon at 7:50 pm.
